Advanced Program Scholarships
Membership in the Camerata Strings, Percussion Ensemble, or Masterworks Winds & Percussion is awarded through this scholarship application. These programs are offered in Sessions 1 and 2 only, grades 9 – 12. Significant scholarship awards are available for those who qualify for membership. Video auditions are due February 28th, and second round auditions are due March 28th.
Prepare to Apply
Students who wish to audition for membership in Camerata Strings, Percussion Ensemble, or Masterworks Winds & Percussion must first enroll in camp through the online application. Candidates will be initially enrolled in Orchestra (for Camerata Strings), or Band (for Percussion or Masterworks Winds) until audition results have been finalized. Students not accepted into the ensemble will be given the option to remain enrolled or withdraw without penalty. However, auditions will not be considered without a completed camp application.
Audition Requirements
- Include 4 scales (three octaves), using separate bowings or any combination of slurs. Include at least 1 minor scale, and the chromatic scale.
- Include a solo, accompanied or unaccompanied, from current repertoire that demonstrates at least two contrasting styles, such as a slower lyrical passage and a faster technical passage. You may include one or more selections or movements to accomplish your contrasting styles.
- Include the assigned orchestral excerpts; download here.

- Include a solo, accompanied or unaccompanied, from current repertoire that demonstrates at least two contrasting styles, such as a slower lyrical passage and a faster technical passage. You may include one or more selections or movements to accomplish your contrasting styles.

- Include 3 scales (full range of instrument), using a variety of articulations. Include 1 major scale, 1 minor scale, and the chromatic scale.
- Include a solo, accompanied or unaccompanied, from current repertoire that demonstrates at least two contrasting styles, such as a slower lyrical passage and a faster technical passage. You may include one or more selections or movements to accomplish your contrasting styles.
- Percussionists: Audition recordings should include three major scales the full range of any mallet instrument, and a demonstration of proficiency on snare drum, timpani, and any mallet instrument through appropriate exercises, etudes, orchestral excerpts, or solo literature.
Include all of the following:
- Marimba: All 12 major scales and a chromatic scale the length of the instrument
- Solo: J.S. Bach’s Cello Suite or Concerto in A minor, or any solo at a comparable level
- Timpani: One solo or etude from the Goodman Method Book that uses all four drums
- Snare: Solo excerpt from Cirone Portraits in Rhythm or Mitchell Peters Intermediate Snare Drum Studies

- Maximum file size: 550MB
- Submit only necessary criteria: You may split your audition into 3 different video files
- Name your files: ArtsDiscipline-Description ex: Violin-Solo, Cello-Scales, Viola-Excerpts
At the beginning of each video, state your first and last name, along with your age and arts discipline. For example: “My name is Renee Fleming, I am 14 years old, and I am a vocalist.” Do not use any form of editing or acoustic altering effects in your audition. Make sure your submission contains all required criteria for your audition.
