June 21, 2013

Dear Blue Lake Friend,

As you read this letter, nearly 6,000 children and youth are preparing to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, thriving in a creative environment that stimulates personal growth and cultural awareness. Most of these students are attending with scholarship support by individuals like you. On their behalf, thank you!

Blue Lake’s impact on shaping young lives is defined by our past students and the thousands of dedicated counselors, staff, and faculty who have served Blue Lake since its inception. Our original mission to inspire students to achieve their potential has not waivered since our first day of camp in 1966. We are pleased to continue that tradition in 2013, and look forward to meeting Blue Lake’s future alumni this summer.

To the thousands of past campers who are in Blue Lake’s current alumni community, we extend an invitation to the Third Annual Alumni Day on August 3, 2013. Alumni Day will provide the opportunity to renew old friendships, tour the camp’s new facilities, and show your support for Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Scheduled activities include guided tours and a performance of Joseph Haydn’s Creation by the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra, International Choir and Alumni Choir, under the direction of Michael Klaue.

An alumni reception will be held that evening at 6:00 p.m. featuring the Blue Lake Jazz Faculty Combo, in the newly renovated Blodgett Recital Hall lobby. For complete Alumni Day registration information, log on to www.bluelake.org/alumniday. See you at camp!

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is proud to announce plans to break ground on a new Health Lodge in the Fall of 2014. The long-awaited 4,500 sq. ft. facility will address the significant limitations of our current 45-year-old building and serve the expanding health and first aid needs for more than 6,000 student campers each summer.

A New Health Lodge for Blue Lake

With an estimated cost of $1,000,000, more than $150,000 has been raised to-date through the generous support of Blue Lake parents, alumni and donors. An additional $500,000 has been committed by the Blue Lake Board of Trustees, with a balance of $350,000 needed to complete funding for the project. To make a pledge or to learn more about the new Blue Lake Health Lodge, log on to www.bluelake.org/healthlodge

As you plan your summer schedule, we encourage you to join us at camp for one of our many Summer Arts Festival presentations. A complete listing of events can be found at www.bluelake.org/saf

You are also invited to attend Experience Blue Lake, scheduled for July 22 – 24 in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan’s famed Hill Auditorium. Comprised of three evening performances, Experience Blue Lake will showcase the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra, Choir and Jazz Orchestra, freshly returned from goodwill tours of Europe. In closing, we ask that you please consider a gift at this time to advance our mission and sustain our work. Your participation will truly make a difference and we appreciate your ongoing support.

Sincerely,
