It's not too late to join the 2012 Blue Lake Alumni Choir and perform the Verdi Requiem!

As a past Blue Lake camper, parent, donor, faculty, or staff member, you are eligible to join the 2012 Blue Lake Alumni Choir!

The Alumni Choir will join the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra and International Choir in a performance of the Verdi Requiem on June 15, 2012, at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and on July 24, 2012, at the University of Michigan's Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor.  In addition, the Alumni Choir and International Choir will join the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra and Staff Choir for an encore performance of the Requiem on August 4, 2011, at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.  The June and July performances will be conducted by Michael Klaue, conductor of the Ahrensburg Youth Symphony Orchestra in Germany and Music Director of the 2012 Blue Lake International Choir.  The August performance, the culmination of Blue Lake’s 2nd annual Alumni Day, will be led by Dr. Richard Rossi, Director of Orchestral and Choral Activities at Eastern Illinois University

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp to Host Free Dance Master Class and Scholarship Auditions for Summer Sessions

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, the Midwest’s largest provider of arts education to children and youth, is hosting a series of free dance master classes and summer camp dance scholarship auditions for its summer camp sessions.  These master class/audition dates will be held in locations in Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota periodically until early March.   Participants may audition for any of Blue Lake’s four, 12-day sessions or for the Dance Ensemble, a four-week intensive program held during Sessions 1 and 2.

According to Blue Lake Dance Director Julie Powell, "Our summer dance faculty consists of seasoned dance professionals and dance educators that have a passion for teaching and a desire for excellence. We welcome all interested dancers to come take the Master class and scholarship audition.”  Students should arrive 30 minutes early and bring a photo of themselves in first arabesque position.

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp receives FY 2012 scholarship grants from Michigan foundations

Blue Lake has received generous assistance in its effort to provide scholarships for the 2012 season to talented students with financial need from Newaygo, Jackson, Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.  This assistance has been provided by the Fremont Area Community Foundation, the Weatherwax Foundation, and the DeRoy Testamentary Foundation.

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp announces its second annual Alumni Day

A special invitation is extended to past Blue Lake campers, staff and faculty for our second Alumni Day. Scheduled for Saturday, August 4, 2012, Alumni Day will provide the opportunity to renew old friendships, tour the camp’s new facilities, and show your support for Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Preliminary plans include department showcases, open rehearsals, and an alumni reception in the original Marek dining hall. The day will culminate with a presentation of the Verdi Requiem at Stewart Shell by the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra, International Choir, Staff Choir, and Alumni Choir, under the direction of Dr. Richard Rossi.
